As Arlo Henderson's wife, I must say thank you. This is not a "Jerry McGuire" position. Arlo cares for these young men as if they were his own sons. Each of the players are a part of the family. We eat together, workout, socialize and plan for the future as a team. It is unfortunate that too many times the players go for the "big" shiny firm and come back to Arlo after they have been neglected and left out to pasture. Not ever has Arlo said no or I told you so to any client that has come back when they didn't initially sign with him. And he is left with many times a young athlete with a broken dream, a scarred or lost physique and waivering confidence. I have never seen anyone work harder for these men for, as you know next to nothing pay. He does it to mentor young athletes and be the agent for them that he wished he had. Thank you for spotlighting one of the bright lights in the arena of NFL Agents. Too many times only the negatives are in the media. We know many agents and know how fickle and shallow most of the relationships are. The communication and caring stop when the player is hurt or out of the limelight... We have old players over monthly for watching games, fights, BBQ's and general socializing to make sure they are making a smooth and positive transition into the real world after football... I don't know any agents that take the time or heart to do that. I appreciate someone giving him back a small amount of recognition for the countless hours of dedication and work he puts out. Warmest Regards, Teal Henderson |
