A rival is one who attempts to equal or surpass another, or who pursues the same object as another, a competitor. In the National Football League today, there is only one true rivalry. New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts. In the past decade, these two teams have dominated the AFC. To reach the Super Bowl, a team has to go through either Indianapolis or New England. When the two titans clash, is where the rivalry begins. Each time displaying and telling a story that will be told for years to come. Sunday will be no different as undefeated New England Patriots takes on undefeated Indianapolis Colts. One key match up to watch this Sunday is Colt’s defensive end Dwight Freeney vs. offensive tackle Matt Light. Light has done and outstanding job this season in protecting Tom Brady, but this will be a true test on how good Light and the offensive line really is for New England. With a lackluster ground game for New England, Freeney will be able to focus more on a direct pass rush. This will give Freeney and the defensive line more opportunities to pressure Brady into bad throws and possibly cause a few turnovers. |

The Good… Ohio State 37 – Penn State 17 Ohio State proved it deserved to be the top ranked team in the country, going into Happy Valley and coming away with a huge victory. Ohio State looked impressive in its biggest win of the season thus far. Quarterback Todd Boeckman and running back Chris Wells managed a balance offensive attack that controlled the tempo of the game and gave the Penn State defense fits all night long. Arizona State 31 – California 20 Arizona State continued its undefeated streak with an impressive win over California this past Saturday. The Sun Devils were efficient on third (9-19) and fourth downs (2-2), and controlled the game clock (37:30) in route to its eighth win of the season. Running back Dimitri Nance scored three times on the ground for Arizona State. West Virginia 31 – Rutgers 3 West Virginia looked dominant enduring the rain and a hostile New Jersey crowd Saturday afternoon. West Virginia quarterback Patrick White played extremely well, throwing for 144 yards and rushing for 156 yards and a touchdown. The Mountaineer defense also played well, disrupting the flow of the balanced Rutgers offense. Georgia 42 – Florida 30 Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno scored from one yard out in the first quarter, which led to a controversial “team” celebration in the end zone that set the tone for the rest of the game. The game was back and forth, scoring points from all over the field, but in the end the Georgia Bulldogs won in an offensive shootout. Within the SEC, Georgia improved to 4-2, while Florida dropped to 3-3. |

Coming off a thrilling victory on Sunday Night Football, the Denver Broncos look to improve to 4-3 against the 5-1 Green Bay Packers. Jay Cutler vs. Brett Favre, gunslinger vs. gunslinger. Cutler drew a lot of comparisons to Favre coming out of college with his “Favrian” arm strength and coming from a school a little under the radar. Denver has had trouble stopping the run all season, but this week they run into a team who has been struggling to run the ball. A key match up in this game will be DeShawn Wynn vs. D.J. Williams and the Broncos front seven. The Packers can throw the ball, that’s obvious, but if they can establish a run it will provide a pressure release for Favre against a tough Denver secondary. |
